my idle musings:

1. 1 street block seems awfully far when u have a busted achilles and can only hobble.  What once took less than a minute to casually stroll down, now takes probably 10 mins to hobble/shuffle down the block.

2. Saw Tarzan over the weekend... it was alright, considering i only paid 20 bucks for the student rush tickets, but i thought Les Mis, Phantom, Blue Man Group, and Rent were better.... which also reminds me... I should probably see more shows on Broadway (hopefully for cheap tho).

3. ALWAYS stretch before playing any sport... even if u think its just going to be a light, easy, take-your-time kinda game

4. I have a 5 game winning streak going on playing Settlers of Catan.  I won the last 2 by accident however as my friend Jeremy would attest to. Someone come and beat me please

5. man.. im pretty pasty white... no wonder the doctors and nurses at the hospital where I was born put me down as Caucasian on my birth certificate.

6. Yankees swept the 5 game series against the Red Sox... take that Boston! go lick ur wounds...

more to come if anyone is interested

I realized that i haven't read a whole lotta books.  20 something years old and i haven't read the amount of books that i should have.  We all did the sparknotes thing in school, or picking the brains of people that did read the book (and along the way, altering slightly their book reports, which i THINK people did with my world lit summer assignment in senior year of high school) all the while not even bothering to open the book. Hell, I'm guilty of it too... mostly because i wanted to watch tv, hang out with friends, listen to music, or just plain got lazy.

Well, now that i'm older (and hopefully more mature), i'm trying to change my ways.  Trying to read all kinds of books, whether they be sci-fi books, fiction, classics, children's books, cartoons, graphic novels, cookbooks, biographies, whatever.  Books that I have read recently: V for Vendetta, all the Dan Brown novels (DaVinci Code, Digital Fortress, etc), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, The Complete Peanuts (Books 1-4), The Giver, all of the Chronicles of Narnia, Marvel's House of M, all 3 Halo books, Sin City 7: Hell and Back, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Just finished reading The Life of Pi... found it VERY interesting.  Now reading Tuesdays with Morrie, but i forgot who gave it to me, so if you know that you gave me this book, or seem to have lost/misplaced it, please claim it from me cuz i feel bad that i have the book and can't return it.  Feels like i stole it or something.

Planning to read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time after that. Anyway, if neone has read a good book lately, or in the past and would like to suggest them to me, just jot it down and send it on my way please.  One can never read enough books and lets face it... the movie versions are just plain horrible compared to the books.

Superman on Imax - anybody wanna come? I have 1 extra ticket (cuz jerry thought there was gunna be 6 ppl, but there's only 5) for sunday night's 11pm show... did i mention that its on IMAX? You get these cool 3D glasses to watch the movie with!  AND i heard that the IMAX version is a bit longer than just watching it on the regular screens.  AND you get to hang out with me, abe and jerry and 2 of jerry's cool friends (at least i hope they are)... that's motivation enuff right? So, if anybody is interested in coming to manhattan (the movie theater is on W 68thish) and watching Superman at 11pm on sunday, please feel free to contact me. I know you want to watch =)

Here's some random/not random musings, idle thoughts and whatnot in my 3 in the morning state of mind:

1. Abe and I went up to Boston last Thurs-Sat.  Met up with Sam and played golf. I'm horrible at golf, as my plus 63-69ish score would indicate. On only 9 holes.  Got eaten up by bugs along the way, and i still have bug bite marks that refuse to go away.

1a. I still think golf is THE most useless pseudo-sport in the world.  People hitting a tiny ball into a equally tiny hole on acres and acres of land.  People are starving in places like Africa, Cambodia, and generally every poor country in the world.  And all that vast amount of land that golf takes up could be used as farms to grow wheat and corn and wutever else that can feed people. Not saying that golf should outlawed, but im pretty sure 75% of the world's golf courses can disappear and the majority of people would not miss it for the world. I like mini golf tho... let's keep those.

1b. Took a 4 hour golfing lesson like 3 weeks back.  The instructor was saying something along the lines of "Your golf swing should be natural" and whatnot.  Buddy, if everyone's golf swings were natural, I would be Tiger Woods without ever playing golf b4, and nobody would be coming to u to learn how to swing the club.  Think before you say something!

2. Met Jeremy on Sunday for the first time in like 4 years.  What a guy.  Watched the Korea vs France game with him near K-town, along with 2 movies. For details, go here: http://xanga.com/beafjerkie . Glad to know that even though i haven't seen the guy in awhile, we can still chill like old times.

3. Speaking of the Korea vs France game, we were lucky to tie that one.  I really don't like how Korea is playing the long deep passing game for our offense, when our best asset is our short passing game (We're not genetically tall like the Europeans).  And wuts up with Jo Jae Jin getting the starts? Put Park Chu Young (or however u spell his name in english) in... he's got more of a killer instict to score! Play to our strengths, not our weaknesses. We haven't had a quality even-number-of-players-on-each-side win in the World Cup since the 2-0 beating of Poland in 2002. Heres to hoping we thrash the Swiss 8-0.

4. I hate my kitchen.  It's tiny. PUNY!  Its the size of a really small closet.  I really want to cook, but theres practically no space for prep work, and only half of our already tiny stove is working.  Cooking is like almost any other skill... if you don't keep practicing/doing it, then you become very very rusty.  Does anybody have a decently sized kitchen where I can maintain/sharpen my crappy culinary skills? In the NYC area? You get to eat food.  It probably won't be that tasty.. but its still food right?

5. I miss my doggies

these little rascals are keeping my mom busy back home which is good.
